Possession in a Child's Perspective

Hello, viewers of the blog, it’s Heidi. At long last, you get to hear from me if you ever had any interest in what I have to say. I guess I’ll start off by saying that I never wrote anything before because I don’t like looking back on what happened to my family and I. Those are some of the worst years of my life, so naturally, I wouldn’t want to reflect on them or even go back and remember the slightest detail. I mean, some of the stuff possibly caused by our issues with the paranormal is still affecting me today. It was only just recently that I got my medical issues and auto-immune disease under control, and I’m 16 now. So it’s been a bit. But now, I’ve grown somewhat, and I think I can share a bit with you all.
I’m not quite sure where to start, because there was just so much that happened. I also tend to block things off and forget them so I don’t have to deal with them, so there are scary experiences I don’t quite remember. Cause after seeing your dad get possessed multiple times, you’d want to forget it too. Actually, how about I talk about that?
I don’t remember what age I was or anything like that, but I do remember waking up to my little sister, Emi, shaking me and bawling. I could hear my mom yelling at me to wake up, and I was so lost and confused. I walk out of my bedroom to see my dad sitting crisscrossed on my front porch, eyes closed, and mumbling something in a language I’d never heard before. It was the first time I’d ever looked at someone, who I’d seen almost every day of my life, and think, “That’s not him”. It’s an eerie feeling.
He then reaches out to Emi and says something, trying to grab her. She, of course, screams and starts crying even more because to her, that’s a stranger. I’m still stuck in shock and am not sure what to feel, but I followed what my mom told me. I grabbed Emi and ran outside with her, both of us barefoot and draped in our blankets. We run across our gravel driveway to the neighborhood across from us to reach our neighbors for help. After we’re on the road and running there, the shock wears off and I start bawling just like Emi. Thinking about it now, we must’ve been a sight to the other neighbors. Two young girls wrapped up in their blankets running barefoot in the middle of the street and crying. But when it’s happening to you, and you’re a kid, you’re just trying to reach some normalcy and safety. You don’t really care about what you look like.
We finally made it to the neighbors and we had ended up staying there for a bit. I’m extremely grateful that they were able and willing to help. I remember staying in the guest room, looking out the window, and seeing dozens of police cars and ambulances outside of my house. Everything ran through my head so fast. “Oh my god, what happened? Is Dad ok? Is Mom ok?”, those kinds of thoughts. But you can’t go and check because you’re too scared and it’s too dangerous. I sort of felt helpless.
Moral of the story is, getting possessed, or watching someone get possessed, is terrifying. It’s unpredictable. One minute you’re you, and the next you’re someone your children are terrified of, yet you still look the same. That’s the scary part.

The Reveal-Part Three

Note:  This blog entry deals with some very sensitive issues that were not aired on our episode. It has taken a long time for us to heal from what we learned.  The emotional toll it took on us and the details leading up to Jennifer's breakdown are in this entry.

My hope that the Hat Man was our only issue were dashed when Amy said, "Yea, I did" after Steve asked her if she saw anything else.

I will never forget the look on Amy's face when she said that.  I knew by the tone of her voice and her expression, that we were about to hear something very horrifying and troubling.  I felt a sinking feeling in my stomach, my heart was racing, and my knees began to shake a little.  I thought, "Oh God, this doesn't sound good."

I also felt that the reveal was beginning to wear on Jennifer.  She was already upset over hearing that the paranormal team may had done a blotched cleansing, but hearing everything about the Hat Man nearly sent her over the edge.  I was really worried about how she would handle what we were about to hear.  One thing that everyone should know about my wife is that her love for our family runs deeper than anything in the world.  She can't stand to see any of us suffering and she'll do anything to ease the pain. She is, without question, the most amazing person I know.

"The next person is a female and to me she's a big problem." Amy said.  As soon as she said that I knew she was talking about the screaming crazy woman.  I remember reaching under the table and grabbing Jennifer's hand, squeezing it tightly as we were both beginning to tremble.

I knew what we were about to hear wasn't going to be good.  Amy told us, "...She effects the living in many different ways...she'll take the energy from the living to feed her own energy to keep herself up." All the sudden we realized that all the fatigue, depression, health issues, and lack of self-motivation was caused by the crazy screaming woman.  Amy listened to all the health issues that we've had since we've lived here.  There were times that everyone one of us were sick for days on end and the doctors couldn't figure out why.  Jennifer talked specifically how her health had deteriorated since moving here.  She told Amy how she was in great health, but since living here she's had vitamin D issues, gallbladder removed, depression, fatigue, and stomach issues.  I could hear Jennifer's voice tremble as she began to realize that all her issues were because of the crazy woman's attacks.  .

Steve then begins to tell Amy about the video that I shot in the kitchen of the drawer. (Click here to see the full Video in blog entry, "The Storm Intensifies.")

After watching it, Amy looks at us and asked, "Have you had physical phenomenon going on prior to the other experiences?"

I told Amy about the time the butcher knife flew off the counter and caught me across the arm.  I told her the cut was so deep that I probably should have gotten stitches but was hesitate to do so because I'd have to explain how I got the cut where I did.  I showed Amy the scar from the cut.  Steve then showed Amy the picture that Jennifer took shortly after it happened.

"Dammmnnnn, that would be more of a poltergeist phenomenon than a deceased individual" said Amy.

I could immediately feel Jennifer sink in her chair after hearing that.  I knew she was really starting to have a difficult time holding it together with everything we were hearing.  I put my hand on her knee and could feel her trembling.

Jennifer after hearing about the poltergeist phenomenon.

Steve asked Amy if she got anything on the crazy woman in life.  All Amy could say was that she felt the woman died fairly recently.  Jennifer began to tell Amy about a family friend who recently passed away. Steve showed Amy the picture and asked if the woman was her.

"No, but she's here right now trying to warn you about this other woman." Amy said as she looked at the picture.

Steve then told us about Etta (Davis) Peters.  Etta died on the property in the early 1900's.  Her death was a mystery as no death certificate or record of her death exists other than a brief obituary.  He showed us a 4 or 5 line obituary for her.

Steve asked Amy if Etta could be the woman in the house.

"Yea, I think she is." Amy answered.

I did some research and found that Etta is buried at Providence Church Graveyard which is about 3 miles from our house

Amy then tells us about the dead people that are standing behind Jennifer.  She looked at Jennifer, and said, "There are seven dead people behind you.  They're all trying to warn about about someone who is hurting one of your girls.  They're saying that a living person is molesting the girl who sleeps in the back bedroom."   Amy said they're frantic about it and are trying to protect her from this person but can't.

"Who?  Who's doing this!?!  Do they know who it is?"  I angrily asked Amy.

"It's someone she knows and they're taking advantage of her trust but they don't know who the person is."  Amy tell us.

Naturally since Heidi is in the back bedroom we think it's her.  My mind starts to run wild.  I think of about all the people she comes into contact with at school and at her gymnastics practices.  A picture of every person starts going through my mind.  It's like a slide show; a photo line up.  The pictures were moving so fast that I had trouble concentrating on what Amy was saying.

I immediately feel like a failure as a husband, father, and protector.  Someone is hurting my child and I want blood.  I want to beat them with my bare hands and leave them for dead.  I want them to suffer.

Amy begins to tell us all the things the crazy woman can do.  She first goes after us physically and then goes after you mentally.  Slowing sucking all the energy and sanity out of us until we're nothing but a useless shell.  After she's drained that person of everything they have, she'll  move onto the next person.  You would build yourself back up then she'll come back and do it all over again.  It was a never-ending vicious cycle.  She'd nearly kill us but leave enough life left in us for the next round.

As soon as Amy said, "She's kind of fixated on the man of the house", I knew exactly what she was talking about.  I knew deep down that the crazy woman was like this but I just didn't want to accept it.  I thought I had stopped her from being obsession with me but I didn't realize that she was "extremely jealous of anyone who gets his attention" as Amy said.

Jennifer looked at Amy, "So everybody here."

Amy shakes her head and says, "yea and when that happens she tries to lash out, violently."

It was scary to think that someone was so fascinated with me that they wanted to hurt my family.  How do I stop someone such as her? She so obsessed with me and I can't do anything.  Restraining orders don't work on the dead.  Why was she fascinated with me, it's not like I'm the greatest looking guy.  I guess it was because I was the only guy around. As I had mentioned in the blog before, I knew she was like this but I didn't realize it was an obsession.  This was a nightmare, like a paranormal fatal attraction.

Amy told us what she saw in the back bedroom, something very disturbing took place there.  She said she did have it sketched.

Steve opened the envelope and pulled the sketch out.  All he said was, "Sorry" as he put it down in front us.

I overcome with emotion.  I couldn't really speak as so many thoughts ran through my mind.  Angry, failure, fear, and anxiety all rushed through me like a fright train as I struggled to hold it together.

Jennifer leans forward and says,  "And this is is in the back bedroom."

"Yes", Amy replied.

The sketch of what Amy saw in the back bedroom.

"That's Heidi's room", Steve said.  "Why's she going after her?"

Amy pointed to Heidi in the picture and tells us that she feels that Heidi is a PK (Psychokinesis) Agent and that to a dead person is "like the fucking Energizer Bunny."  Amy continues to tell us all the things that Heidi is capable of doing as a PK Agent.  However, Heidi is not aware of her abilities but she does knows she's different.  She doesn't realize how or why she's different and certainly doesn't understand how to control her abilities.

Amy told us more of why the crazy woman was going after our daughter.  "...and she's jealous of her! She kind of wants her out of the way."

"Out of the way in what manner?"  Steve asked Amy.

Then Amy said to us the last thing that any parent wants to hear, "like get rid of her.  Like if she died she would be ecstatic."

Everything we heard was overwhelming.  I was angry and scared; I was ready to fight.  My family was in danger and I had to do something.

The toll this took on Jennifer was too much.  She finally reached her breaking point.  "I feel horrible.  My heart hurts."  she said after hearing everything.

All we could do was hold each other.  Try to collect ourselves and regroup.  We lean on each other anytime we hit a rough patch in our lives.  Being there for one another and gaining strength from each other is how we coup.  It's how we survive.

We had to stop filming as Jennifer started to hyperventilate.   She was sobbing and shaking uncontrollably.  Emotions were pouring out of her.  Seeing her like this was heartbreaking, all I could do was just hold her and ensure her everything would be okay.  We would get through this.  We took Jennifer outside to on the back porch.  I practically had to carry her because she was so distraught.  As I walked her outside, I could see some of the crews eyes watering up.  The emotions of what just happened effected everyone.

Steve was absolutely amazing.  It seemed as if his police training kicked in as he treated her like a victim.  He knew exactly what to say to her.  Without his help I don't think we could have continued with the reveal.

We finally collected ourselves and told the producers we're ready to continue.

Now we know what had been torturing us for nearly 8 long years.  We told each other if Amy told us to leave, we were leaving that night.

"You stole the show!"

This blog post will be different than the others.  It's about the fun the we had with the crew and Steve.  This entry will not be dark and scary like the others.  Our time with the Dead Files crew was not all serious, we had some fun too.  So, I hope you all enjoy this little detour in our story.  I felt it was important to share this because it was nice to laugh while all the chaos was happening around us.

Jennifer is pretty tall at just a little over 5'7" and with boots on she's close to 5'10".  She is also a typical Texas girl who doesn't always filter the things she says.  I mean that in a good way too, it's one the things I love about her.  Her interview with Steve took place in the open bedroom.  As she was standing next to Steve, it was obvious she was a good bit taller than him. Not saying that Steve is short but with Jennifer wearing cowboy boots it made her taller than what she normal would be.

They had just started their interview and the producers cut filming.  He asked Jennifer, "Hey Jennifer, would you mind taking off your boots?"  At first, she thought it was because of the sound the boots made while she walked on the floor.  Then, out of the blue, she jokingly said, "oh that's right, I can't be taller than the star."  The hush across the crew was priceless.  Jennifer took off her boots as Steve chuckled.

The next person on the interview list was Heidi.  Steve interviewed Heidi in her room.  Like I had always said, the crew was unbelievable respectful of our situation & our experiences.  They knew we had concerns with the back bedroom, which was Heidi's.  After talking to Heidi and discussing with each other, Heidi decided she was okay with doing the interview in her room.  As the interview started, Steve said, "So Chloe, I hear you've had a lot issues in the house."  Heidi responded, "Well I don't about her but I'm Heidi and I have had a lot."

Emi was getting ready for her interview and was a little nervous.  Steve was great with her, absolutely wonderful.  Emi warms up to people pretty quickly, but Steve did it faster than anyone I've seen.  During Emi's interview, Steve asked Emi if she had seen anything.  Emi said that one time she saw a very tall creepy guy standing in the corner of her room.  Steve asked her what did you do, did you say anything?  Without missing a beat Emi responded, "I looked at him and said, 'Well hello creepy guy'".  Steve smiled and tried not to laugh but the producers couldn't contain themselves. Rob Rosen was beside himself laughing, he went up to Emi and gave her a big hug.  He said to her, "That was the best!  You stole the show!"  What made the situation even more precious was that Emi didn't know what that meant.  She thought it was a bad thing and started to tear up.  Rob was great with her, he told her that was a good thing because it meant she was the star.  The smile on her face was ear to ear.

Emi and Heidi with Rob Rosen, the show runner and executive producer. May 2016

Even with all the fun we had filming with Steve, the interviews opened horrible memories for us, especially the girls.  The interviews with Steve was the first time we allowed the girls back into the house.  We sent them away after the filming was done as we still didn't feel it was safe.  That night they both had difficult time sleeping and I think we ended up all sleep in the same bed at my mom's house.

Next up was a day off for us as we could just relax a little.  But coming up was the reveal and it wasn't going to be pretty.

Lights, Cameras, Action

The main part of the show which involved us were the interviews with Steve DiSchiavi.  Steve is a great guy but a no-nonsense type of guy.  He's good at his job and is professional but is also really a fund guy.  I get a lot of questions about what he is like.  I can honestly say the man you see on your TV every week is the man he is in real life.

Filming our interviews wasn't tough, just a little nerve-racking.  There were no scripts, no rehearsals, and the only direction we were given was  to "just talk about what happened and answer Steve's question."  We were NEVER asked to say something that didn't happen or embellish anything.

It's tough to talk about the things that happened to us while the cameras were rolling.  It made us relieve all the negative and scary things.  That's not always a good thing because those were very powerful memories to talk about.

During the initial interview with Steve on our back deck, they cut filming and Steve and I were just talking.  I remember him saying to me that being a father and not being able to protect my family had to be tough.  I started to break down because my mind immediately shifted to a memory of Emi running terrified down the hall crying, saying she saw someone.  How do I protect my family from something that doesn't fight fair and holds all the advantages?  It's heartbreaking and as I said on the show, "I'm the first, last and only line of defense."  I felt I was failing my family.  I didn't know they started filming again so what you're seeing of me during that interview is a genuinely concerned father and husband who's at the end of rope and feeling helpless.

Steve and I moved into the kitchen and I told him the things that happened there.  The knife flying off the counter and cutting my arm (still have a nice scar from that too) and the video of the drawer.  I was reluctant to use the video because of the naysayers, but they convinced to do it.  The first time Steve saw the video was during the filming as it was decided earlier in the day to use it.  The video that you see on the show is NOT the entire video and I only started filming after things were happening.  You can see the entire video and read the entire story behind it in the blog entry The Storm Intensifies.

The next part of the interview involved us going down into the basement.  I admit that I was scared to go back down there because of everything that happened to me there.  To me, the basement was the epicenter of evil and all our problems.  No one would be able to protect me if anything were to happen and it took awhile before I could muster up the courage to go down there.   I remember Steve say, "It's pretty obvious this space bothers you."  I didn't realize until we watched the show that my fear of the basement was written all over my face.

I still get a lot of question regarding my interview with Steve as well as reading comments on social media because most people thought Steve was too hard on me.  They ask if it upset or bothered me.  The answer I tell people is, "no, not in the least little bit."  As I said earlier, there were not scripts, it was us just talking and Steve doing what he does best.  I expected him to be hard on me and, frankly,  I respect him for being the way he was.  That's his job.  It's what he did while he was a homicide detective.  Get the truth out of someone, find out the real reasons for why something happened.  I was raised by a Chief Master Sargent who was career military.  My dad was a man I respected and was a whiskey drinking, cigar smoking bad ass who didn't put up with bullshit.  So dealing with Steve was a walk in the park compared to that.

No one in the family was allowed to watch each other’s interviews.  The producers didn't want anything that would tip the other person off as to what direction their interview would go or what questions would be asked.

Jennifer and the girls were up next.

Semana de los Muertos-Cuarta Parte

After Lance’s Native American Chanting, I took him back inside the house.  He is completely distraught, so I tell him just go sit down on the bed.  Everything is ok just sit down and relax.  He does as I say and lies down on his side of the bed.  I then ask Emi to stay by her Dad and ask her Guardian Angels, whom she hears and speaks with, to protect her daddy and keep him safe.  She hurries over to his side and sits on the bed with him, worried sick about her daddy and prays to her angels.  Meanwhile I go with Heidi and tell her to call Grandma right away and tell her to come over.  While I’m doing this, I hear Emi scream horrified from the open bedroom and find her crying in the foray as I run back to check on her and Lance.  She is shaking with fear from the way her father looks.  Lance is now smiling with eyes squinted his face looking different and his head turned looking at us both speaking in some type of Indian language.  Strange words are flowing from him as he smiles at us happily.  He didn’t sound scary, but it was NOT my husband we were all completely scared out of our minds.  What to do now?  My protective instincts kick in much stronger now as both of my girls are clinging to me and crying in the foray as we all witness the freak show sitting on my bed.  I immediately tell Heidi to grab a blanket and Emi and run over to our neighbors’ house who are across the street in the neighborhood.   In all my turmoil this morning I discover, as the kids are running for their lives to our front gate, a customer showing up to drop off their dogs for me to babysit.  They of course see the terror in our eyes and hear the extreme fear in my voice as I beg them to please take my kids to my neighbors across the street.  My customers being completely confused and worried ask me what’s wrong?   I just repeat my request louder and tell them to take them for me now please I must get back to Lance.   Thankfully they do as I ask.

So now I must go back into my house not knowing what I will meet after I open my front door.  Lance is still sitting on the bed smiling thankfully, so I walk past him and go to the bedroom and call my mother in law.  I tell her to get over here immediately that I need her now and that Lance is NOT WELL.  She tried to get some answers and I told her “GET HERE NOW!!!”  Okay so I come out of the bedroom and check on Lance.  I had walked through the kitchen and nothing was out of order; this will come in later in the story because of what happens next.  Lance is still on the bed or whoever that Indian was.  Meanwhile my neighbors have returned drove in the driveway and are very concerned.  I am telling them what has just happened when my mother in law arrives.  I tell them I must go and will fill them in later.  Very worried they drive away and my mother in law drives in.  I tell her to go sit with Lance and give her a short idea of what is happening.  I put the visiting dogs in the back with my pack and return to the bedroom.  By now Lance wakes up and now is very surprised to see his mom sitting on the bed beside him.  Again he panics and stands up to pace and begins to feel sick and nauseous.  He goes outside to vomit.  When he returns he appears himself but extremely confused and worried.  He asks, “where are the kids?”  I told him all that had happened and he nervously, with panic in his voice, asks “did I hurt anyone?  Are they okay?” I assured him they were not hurt, only scared, and were safely across the street with the neighbors.  I ask his mom to sit and help calm him down while I call the school to let them know why the kids were not there.  I call the school barely able to speak for the fear I’m struggling with and telling the person who answered to put my friend, Debra on the phone.  She asks me, “what do you need?”  I repeat in a panicked louder voice filled with tears and fear “Put Debra on the phone!!!  I need to talk to Debra!!!”  crying though my words.  Alas I hear my friends voice.   “Hi Jennifer,  this is Debra.”  as I start talking I begin to have trouble due to my hyperventilating as I tell her what is going on and the kids will not be at school today.  “Jennifer, Jennifer, slow down I can’t understand you.”, she says.  I try to calm myself and tell her again.  Now I am crying and screaming in fear realizing what all has happened.  “Jennifer are you hurt? Do you want to me to call the police?”  I replay, “no they can’t help me! Debra can you please come over!!!” She says, “well I am working so what do you need me to do to help you”.  My immediate response is “Nothing unless you can come over!  Lanita is here and is helping me with Lance.  He is better now.”  “Okay well call me if there’s anything I can do.”, she says as we hang up the phone.  I try to calm down and stop crying so I can return to Lance.

My mother in law suggest that we all pack our things and come stay at her house for a while to ensure our safety.  Lance seems himself, so I take her into the bedroom to tell her about the incident with the knife that had flown across Lances arm in the kitchen and cut him.  She told me she was aware of this incident.  I didn’t know but needed her to take the situation seriously.  We came out of the bedroom with me in front and we walk into the kitchen again.  I am turned backwards to her as we are talking about when we’ll get to her house.  She was adamant we come immediately and not to delay.  Lance and I agree and tell her it’s okay for her to leave.  She goes home to wait for us.

I begin to pack some clothing for all of the girls, Lance gets his things and sits on the bed baffled at what we have told him.  I return to the kitchen and as I walk into the kitchen I notice a steak knife stabbed into the wall.  I am< of course< quickly set on guard to anything that was to happen next.  The knife was stabbed into the wall under the bar which coincidentally has the bed with Lance sitting on it on the other side.  I call to him horrified to come look at what I have now found.  As we look at the knife I notice red ink and the words “DIE DIE DIE DIE” written from small to very large letters all around the knife.  The words took up about 2-3 feet all over the wall where it was written around the knife.  OKAY THAT’S ENOUGH FOR ME!!!!  WE’RE OUT OF HERE!!!  I took photos of this horrid sight for documentation and then removed the knife.

The knife in the wall with the words of warning.

Another angle of the knife in the wall.

I decided that maybe if I had the knives in a drawer it may make it harder for them to fly around the house like they had done 3 times prior to this.  All knives and anything else that could kill us, scissors, skewers and knives were enclosed in the drawer beside the dishwasher.  I needed to protect my family at all cost.

The Deranged, The Bad, & The Good

Filming was scheduled to begin on May 24, 2016 and activity had picked up at a feverish pace.  The crazy lady had somehow opened some kind of pathway right to our house.  Spirits seemed to be everywhere and most of them weren't very nice.   It was like we were trapped in the eye of a hurricane, just waiting for the worse part of the storm to hit.

THE DERANGED

"I will never leave unless you leave with me!"

This was just one of the many things the crazy woman would say to me.  She was talking non-stop now and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't tune her out.  It was stressful because she would talk anytime I was at the house.  "Do you feel as if you are all balled up?  I am getting through to you now." she said to me as I drifted off to sleep one night.  That night I had dreams that she was there, walking around me. In the dream she was talking but I couldn't hear her.  She was blurry and transparent but I could see enough of her to know that she was lecturing me.   I was awakened by her loud blood curtailing scream.  I didn't sleep the rest of the night.  She knew Amy was coming too, "I feel as if someone is coming to bump me." she said to me one day.  "Surely, you would not let that happen to me, would you baby?"  I finally broke and said out loud, "If that's what it takes then yes!"  Just then there was a loud scream followed by a whisper in my ear, "If she comes, I will bump the ones you love."

THE BAD

"I have killed before, it is my nature and I do not take much mind to it."

I heard this as I was in the barn getting it ready for the film crew.  It was a male voice that sounded gravely and in an as matter of fact tone.  I had never heard this one, it was something new.  I looked around the barn just to make sure no one was there.  It was unnerving and I could feel a sudden wave of anxiety rush over me.   I was determined to stand my ground and to finish what I was doing.  As I was closing one of the horse stalls I heard,  "Here, let me help you!" and the stall gate slammed shut nearly catching my hand in the process.  If you know anything about horse stalls, you know that those sliding gate doors are extremely heavy and made out of reinforced steel.  I was lucky as it could have seriously hurt my hand.   I stood there dazed for a second not knowing what to do.  Then I heard a laugh behind me just as I turned someone yell, "BOO!" I was done...I hauled ass out of there and didn't talk to anyone about what happened.

THE GOOD

"Sometimes the good ones will follow the bad ones through the door."

One morning while I was getting the girls ready for school.  I heard a man say that to me.  His voice was calm and soothing.  He spoke with an air of confidence in a relaxed tone.  It immediately made me feel safe.  A few minutes later, Emi asked Jennifer who was that man that walked by.  Jennifer said it was probably Dad but she said no, he was wearing a flannel shirt and was short.  I walked back in and Jennifer asked me if I walked through the kitchen.  She said Emi just saw a man walk through.  I thought to myself this must had been the man I just heard.  I asked Emi if she was scared of him and she said no because he was seemed nice.  A few moments later, I heard "I am nice and I do not particularly care for those other folks here so I will try to keep them busy."

Even though some good was there, it wasn't enough to stop what was about to happen.

At the end of the rope with nowhere to fall

If you have been an reader of our blog, you realize that our slow demise mentally & physically is an ongoing up to this point.  Now it's beginning to hit a climatic breaking point.   Jennifer's health continued to deteriorate.   She experienced stomach issues and had to have her gallbladder removed   She's tired and beginning to show signs of depression.  The younger girls, Heidi & Emi, have illnesses on a daily basis.  Despite constantly going to the doctor they have no answers on why they are sick or what could be causing it.  They prescribe antibiotics & other medicines but those only seem to slow it down but not cure it.  Chloe has become distant and less involved with the family.   We are slowly being torn apart, one thread at a time.    Bad days far out number good days now.

Our only recourse now seems to be to try to distant ourselves from the activity.   We feel we have a good idea of the hot spots so we make them off limits.   The back bedroom is now vacant.   No one is allowed in the basement.  Jennifer sleeps with the girls in the living room.  I sleep with Maya in what is now an open bedroom.  Everyone knows where everyone else is at all times.  Finally, under no circumstances is anyone allowed to stay home alone.

The holidays arrive but it means nothing to us.  Everything seemed to pile on top of us pushing us down.  It was a feeling that someone was slowly eating away at us; keeping us under their control. Nothing brought us happiness regardless of what we tried.  Compounding our problem was a strain of Canine parvovirus that ran through our kennel.  It killed 16 puppies in less than 10 days.  The virus was planted in our home but a careless individual who dropped off her sick dog in our kennel area in the middle of the night without telling us.  This does nothing but adds to Jennifer depression and makes her more vulnerable to attacks.  I feel as if she is slowly drifting away.

We started asking for things to be returned if they've been taken.   Sometimes things come back and sometimes they don't.   Case in point, it was our anniversary and Jennifer had laid an envelope full of cash on the bar for us to use on our night out.   It was in plain site and I remember seeing it setting there.   As we about to walk out the door, she goes to get it and it's gone.  We searched everywhere but it's nowhere to be found.   Finally Jennifer says, "It's our anniversary, please give my money back so we can celebrate."  Within in minutes it appears back on the bar like it had never been touched.

Things continue to happen despite our efforts to contain it.   Doors open and close, we hear voices, things disappear, and the screaming man and woman seem to be screaming at each other now with us being caught in the middle.  The smell of pipe and cigarette smoke continues to fill our house.   It's difficult for us to decipher what's good versus what has harmful intentions so we treat everything as hostile.  We have stopped talking to others about our issues because we feel it's counterproductive and doesn't serve a purpose but to make us some sort of novelty; like a freak show at a carnival.   We've become withdrawn and only venture out out of necessity.  We too tired to fight at this point.  We're helpless, lost, and have no one & nowhere to turn.  We're at the end of our rope but there's nowhere safe to fall.

Nice Trick...Now For Your Punishment

We were devastated after the Dead Files told us they were done filming and weren't sure if they were going to be renewed.  The feeling of hopeless was overwhelming as we were back to suffering through this alone.  The light of hope at the end of the tunnel had turned to darkness.  However, we were still holding out for open that the show would be picked up for Season 8 and they would choose us.

Everything that we do or talk about in the house is being watched by those in the shadows now.  They use it against us or to stop us from being on the show.  They don't like the fact that we contacted the Dead Files for help and they're angry.  They're about to show us just how much control they have over us and punish us for what we've tried to do.  To give you some sort of idea of what we're dealing with at this point, imagine being in an abusive relationship but you can't see the person or know when the attacks are coming.

The punishment started with a simple warning.  One day a bowl of dry dog food was sitting on the kitchen counter, Jennifer walked in to find the the words "Nice Trick" spelled out with the dog food. At the time, we thought it was funny but looking back I feel it was a message.  The message was that our attempts to get help was nothing but a nice trick to those torturing us.

The spoon is flying through the air at a regular pace.  During it return one time, it nearly hits Emi in the head as it flies through the living room into the kitchen.   The scream are happening all the time now and at all times of the day with no pattern as to when it happens .  Now new things are starting.   A screaming male has now joined the screaming crazy girl.

The new screams are angry.    It's a hostel scream, like a scream being made when someone is attacking someone or something. They come without warning and without any of us sensing its about to happen.  During one scream, Heidi and I are waiting in the Kitchen for Jennifer to come pick us up.  Nothing is on-no fan, no radio, no TV.  All the sudden a terrifying yell from a man that sounds like he's right on top of us!  It feels as if it pounding down on us.  The look on Heidi's face is terrifying and I try to laugh but my fear was also showing on my face.  "I want to get out of here", Heidi said.  I didn't debate her, we needed to get out.  We waited by the gate until Jennifer came to get us.

Things are opening, moving, and disappearing.   There's no logical explanation for any of it.  It's an unnerving feeling to experience this as you know you're losing control of your surroundings.  The kitchen seems to be the flash-point for all the new activity.  It then moves from there like a virus; spreading terror throughout the house section by section.

While Heidi was in the Kitchen one time she turned her back away from our bar table.  Without warning or a sound, she turns back around to find two bar stools stacked on top of each other, legs to legs.  She was standing less than six feet away and  her back turned for only seconds.

The bar stools in the kitchen.  Heidi is in the background.  She was standing at the edge of the counter when this happened.
It's as if the spirits are practicing for things to come.  Doors are opening on their own, things are being moved from their original places.  The spoon returns one time bent in half and now other things are starting to come up missing.  Knives are starting to show up stuck in walls and ceilings
This new activity is no longer confined to within the house now.  Doors are opening and being left open in the garage and barn.  Screams are happening outside and banging on doors and windows are now a daily occurrence.  We decide that no one is to be left alone in the house

The Spoon bent in half upon it's return.

Car Doors being opened and left open in the garage.

Another shot of the car/truck doors being opened and left open

Tractor hood & truck doors opened
We are being pushed, scratched, grabbed, and feeling sicker.  The girls are missing school due to feeling exhausted and being sick.   We are being pulled apart, arguing with each other for no reason whatsoever.  Jennifer's hair is thinning.  She's having stomach problems, and her vitamin D & Iron levels are dropping to dangerously low levels.  We have little strength left to fight; we're losing.

The punishment for trying to get help from The Dead Files is beginning.

Help us Dead Files

The screams of the crazy lady were happening more and more often.  It seemed everyday she would learn how to scream a little better than the day before.  We knew that she was teaching herself to do more things and we were getting scared.

One day Emi came to us and asked if someone was trying to get into her room.  She said that while she was sitting on the bed her door knob kept turning, like someone was trying to open the door but for some reason couldn't do it.  No one was near her room...no one.

I took it as crazy lady was working harder now to learn new things which was frightening.  She was unstable.  An unstable person is dangerous, an unstable spirit is deadly.   How do you protect your family from something you cannot see and have now warning that's about to attack?  Short answer is-you can't.

Jennifer decides we need help but we've been through so much that we're not sure where to turn.  The bad taste is still there from the last paranormal team.   Bringing others in without knowing the who, what, and why of their methods scares us.  Will they help or just make things worse?

We decide to try to contact The Dead Files again.   Jennifer works on finding the real "Help Me Dead Files" submittal site and thankfully she finds it.   She tells them everything we've experienced and it's a laundry list of comically, heartbreaking, and terrifying things.   We have evidence now in the form of audio from Emi's video.  I had pretty much given up on ever find someone to help us.  Thankfully Jennifer didn't. My wife is an amazing woman and she is persist in protecting her family.  We click "submit", praying for a response this time; the right response.

A few days later my phone rings with a California number.   I let it go to voice mail because I don't normally answer numbers that I don't recognize from states which I don't do business.  I forget about it and go about my day.  I check it later and it's Desma from Painless Productions.  Jennifer & I were excited!  It was like getting a message that the cavalry was on the way!  It takes a couple of days of telephone tag but we finally talk to her.  We spend nearly an hour & half on the phone with her.  She's shocked by our story and tells us it's one of the craziest she's heard.   She asks us what we want to get out of the show.  Without hesitation we tell her, just help.  Help figure out what this is and how to get rid of it.  We've been through so much and scared it will seriously hurt or killed someone.  We just want a normal life.

Before we can move forward with the show, we had to sign releases and authorizations.   We took pictures of our house inside & out: talked to Desma via email & phone.  Then we waited...and waited...and waited.  Meanwhile, the activity is much more "organized", for lack of a better word. However, the thought of finally getting help from Amy & Steve calms us somewhat.  We feel there's finally hope of living a normal & happy life.

Desma calls us one day to tell us that the show has completed the filming for season 7.  The Travel Channel has not told them if the show will be renewed or not.  She does tell us they are very interested in our story and if it is renewed they want ours to be the season 8 premiere. Problem is, there may not be a season eight.

We were heartbroken.  We go from the excitement of getting help back to the hopelessness of living in our own horror story.

The house was starting to feel darker as if the dead knew that no one was coming to help us.  We became target practice for them.  They are about to punish us for trying to get help.

You scream, I scream, but she screams louder

Until now, I was the only one who could actually hear the crazy lady scream.  However, that was about to change.

She is now screaming for all to hear on nearly a daily basis.   Her screams happened without warning and at anytime of the day.  They sounded as if they are coming from the back part of the house or in the back part of the hallway.  They were terrifying.

We were at a loss and even though we're scared at this new development; we're numb to everything that is happening around us.   The spoon is disappearing and reappearing as if it has a mind of it's own, she's screaming whenever she wants too, we're smelling cigarette and pipe smoke, and Jennifer & the girls are getting sick.   We're scared and feel hopeless.

Up to this point, the screams have only happened while it's only us in the house.  But one Spring afternoon that changed as she made her presence known to others outside the family.   It was Prom season and Chloe was helping other girls with their hair and make up.   There were a lot of teenage girls at our house and, as Chloe was doing a girls hair, it happened.  She screamed.  It was a longer scream than her normal one and sounded different.  It was like she was mad and jealous.  The look on the girl's faces were a combination of curiosity and horror. "what...was...that?" one asked.   So we had to explain and that was followed by about a 1,000 other questions.

It's was difficult to explain everything that we had been experiencing so we decided it was best to leave some of the details out.   We live in a small town so word of this getting out could have some negative effects on all of us as it could have turned us into a curiosity and novelty.  That was something we just didn't want to deal with.

Now that she has exposed herself to others, she started getting braver in her actions.  She was opening & closing doors, moving things, and was continuing to work on her trademark screams.  It had gotten to the point that Heidi and Emi would not sleep in their rooms and didn't want to be alone.

Even though others had heard it, it was still difficult for some to believe.  A witness is just someone who tells others what they experienced.  You can choose to believe or not to believe, it was evidence that we needed to truly get help but we were too scared to do anything for fear of just pissing her off more.

By complete accident we got what we needed one early Fall afternoon.  Emi was making homemade Reese's Peanut Butter cups and like all kids these days, she felt the need to document herself.   With Emi in the kitchen and Jennifer & I watching TV in the living, she screamed.  I immediately ran into the kitchen and realized that Emi was recording.   We played it back and there she was; the woman who has been tormenting us.  We could see Emi's reaction when she heard it.

I'm going to end this blog with the actual video from that day.  It's the same video we sent to The Dead Files when we submitted our story.   The scream happens at approximately the 10 second mark. This is what we were dealing with but it was going to get much worse.
