Not Everything was Scary

People are always quick to assume that when you are dealing with the paranormal, it is always going to be something scary.  In most cases, at least from the ones that I have heard about, that is true and our experience certainly had it's horrific moments that caused a lot of stress, fear, and anxiety.  However, that wasn't always the case.  Throughout our haunting, there were moments when some things were just comical.  Not sure who or what it was that decided practical jokes were a good way to get our attention but at least it was a break from the horrifying things.

"Where did my underwear go?"

So, this is something that didn't make the show.  It was just too funny and our producer busted out laughing when we told him the story.  It just didn't fit the theme and the flow of the show so it ended up on the cutting room floor.

One evening, I can't remember exactly when, I was folding laundry in the open bedroom.  I had just finished folding and putting away my underwear and I left to put some clothes away in another room. When I came back, the drawer where my underwear was was pulled completely out of the dresser and my underwear was piled back on the bed.   Needless to say I was not pleased.

Even though I was mad, I didn't make a big deal about what happened.  I put the drawer back inside the dresser, folded my underwear again, and put them away.  I then left the room to get more laundry.  When I came back, the drawer was open and my underwear were laid neatly on the bed, thankfully, still folded.

At this point, I was frustrated and said, "That's enough! Stop it!" as I put them back into the drawer; again.

When I came back into the room later in the evening.   The drawer was still closed and nothing was on the bed.  I thought to myself that I finally got through to whomever it was.  I thought everything was cool and we had reached an understanding that my underwear was off limits.

Well, I guess whomever it was decided that my underwear was just too tempting.  When I went to get a pair out of the drawer there were none to be found.  I looked in each drawer, under and around the bed, and even under the mattress.  Gone, they were all gone.  I only had the pair I was wearing, that was it.

A day with by and another and another.  No underwear to be found and going commando was not an option.  I was forced to begrudgingly buy new underwear.

I was frustrated that I was forced to by new ones but I slowly got over it until few days later, Emi comes into the house giggling,  "Dad, all your underwear is in the back of your truck."

I head out to the garage and sure enough, there's all my underwear throw into the bed of my truck.  As I was getting them out to wash them again, because, hey, you don't know where they've been, I heard a child softly laughing.

"yea, you got me.  that was a good one, you're very funny", I said as I walked out of the garage.

So, if you ever faced with a mischievous spirit of a child, let them have them fun but guard your underwear!

The Cavalry is coming to the rescue!

It's late March 2016 now and our lives had not only become distant from the outside world but from each other as well.   We couldn't stop or control anything that was happening. It had finally started breaking our souls.  Living the way we were living was a tragedy in itself.

The constant screaming of the crazy woman, the man laughing and yelling anytime he wanted,  things breaking down for no reason, things disappearing or flying through the house, and the smell of tobacco smoke were now a part of horrifying daily life.  It seemed there was always something new to add to the list happenings.  One evening I came back into the house from taking the trash out and found one of our dogs on a shelf above the kitchen cabinets.  It was impossible for him to have done this on his own, something helped him.  He was terrified and it took awhile to calm him down.  He also developed a self-protecting trait as sometimes he would refuse to come back inside the house.  It wouldn't make a difference if it was freezing, snowing, or raining he didn't want to come inside.

Everything about us now was broken.  We were past the point of asking anyone for help or telling anyone about what was happening.   Everyone had looked at our situation as a novelty or something fun.  To them it was like something that they would see on television but to us it wasn't a made for TV movie.  It was the reality of living in constant fear, exhaustion, and chaos.

My phone rang late one afternoon but since I didn't recognize the number I didn't answer.   I pushed the call the voice mail and forgot about it.  Later that evening I checked the message and it was Desma from The Dead Files!  Her message said the show had been renewed and she wanted me to call her if we were still interested.   Thankfully she was still in the office when I called back.   Jennifer & I spoke to her on speaker phone.  She asked if we were still having issues.  We quickly replied "yes and it's gotten worse!"

"Would you still consider being on the show?  We want to use your story as a season premier.", she said.

We didn't hesitate and said, "Yes we do!"

She seemed just as excited as we were as she went through a timeline & deadlines of the show's production.   At the very end she asked if we sure we wanted to do this.  "You're at the point of no return now, are you absolutely sure you want to do this?  Doing the show will make everything public and people may judge you, so are you ready for that?"

We told her that we are living in constant fear and lives are nothing but a shell of what it was before all this started happening.  We were at the point that we didn't care what anyone else thought because we knew if we didn't get help we were going to lose everything.   So, yes...we were ready to do it and to finally get some help that we felt we could trust.

She told us who our producer would be and that he would contact us within the next couple of days to schedule times to come to meet with us.

We finally felt a sense of relief that we hadn't felt in years.  We were going to get help...real help.  All the sudden our moods stated to change and the house was quiet for a few days.

However, things were about to take a very scary turn.  It's always darkest before the dawn is just a saying but it was about to become our reality.

This was open, and this was open, and this was open...

Now that I have experienced something, I was a little on edge.  However, like everything else, the anxiety of the experience began to fade with time.  My misguided logical mind decided to takeover   "It  must had been a radio alarm that went off."  or "Maybe a computer was left on or even a cellphone ringtone from someone leaving their phone behind."   My mind came up with the excuse for the scream and I bought it hook, line, and sinker.

I continued to work in the basement, like nothing had happened.  I'm good at shutting things down and focusing on my work so that's what I did.  Nothing else happened so I figured my logically brain was right.

Emi was still at home at this point as she wouldn't start school until the next year.  It was nice to have her home and she seemed not bothered by anything going on.  One morning, she came down into the basement and asked me to come upstairs.  Since I needed some coffee, I was more than happy to.   As we were going upstairs she keep telling me about the cabinets in the kitchen being open.  I didn't think much of because people left them open all the time.   As we got to the kitchen a couple of cabinet doors were open and I said to her, "yeah, someone left them open."   She said "they were all open".   She went around the entire kitchen and said,  "This was open, and this was open, and this was open..."  She even pointed to ones that she couldn't even reach as well as to the dishwasher, oven, microwave, and refrigerator.  I dismissed it and thought nothing more of it.  It was just her overactive imagination .

The next morning started like all the rest.  Getting coffee, check my phone, and check emails.  I was reading an email as I made my way down stairs to start the day.   As I got to my desk, I realized I forgot my coffee.  So I went back up stairs to get it.  As I got to the kitchen, I saw it.   I saw what Emi had seen.  I wasn't even gone 5 minutes and every single cabinet & drawer were opened.  Along with everything else.

What I found when I went back upstairs to get my coffee.
It all happened within less than 5 minutes.  I tried to take a picture...blurry.  I tried to take another one...blurry again.  Changed the camera settings on my phone...still blurry.

Emi was awake in her room, I asked her if she had been in the kitchen.  She hadn't, she hadn't heard anything either. She went into the kitchen told me this is what happened yesterday.

Now I've experienced 2 things.  My mind was racing.  I was thinking back to other unexplained things that had occurred since we moved here.  One came to mind very quickly.  It was regarding a TV in the girls bedroom.  Every time we turned it on, the volume would become very loud and we couldn't change the channel.  I took a look at it, thinking it might a dog or something was walking over the remote (logically brain at work again).  When I turned it on, the same thing happened.  The sound turned all the way up and at first I couldn't change the channel.  I finally got the volume turned down and was able to change the channel but now I couldn't turn it off!!!  I figured, okay unplug it.  Maybe it just needs to reset itself.  As I was about to pull the plug, the channel changed back to the original channel it was on and the volume begin to increase.  I unplugged it but the damn thing was still on!   I plugged it back in and it sparked and turned off.  I told the girls to leave it unplugged.  I thought it had just "given up the ghost" but how could it stay on for nearly 5 minutes after I unplugged?

Now everything was starting to make sense and logical thinking was out the window.
